Waterford authorizes emergency management grant match and corrects multiple commission terms; several appointments approved

Selectmen authorized First Selectman Robert Brule to accept an Emergency Management Performance Grant with a 50% town match, ratified and revised multiple commission appointments and OnBoard directory term dates for the Flood & Erosion Control Board, Harbor Management Commission, Economic Development Commission and the Waterford Shellfish Commission.
The Waterford Board of Selectmen on March 17 authorized the First Selectman to execute documents to accept an Emergency Management Performance Grant from the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security) that will reimburse a portion of the Emergency Management Director’s salary, subject to a 50% town match.
First Selectman Robert Brule was recorded as the official authorized to sign grant documents on the town’s behalf. The resolution included certification that Brule holds the office of First Selectman and has since November 2019.
Separately, the board approved a series of appointment and term‑correction items to align municipal commission listings with ordinance schedules. Actions recorded in the minutes included amending the ratification of Gina Rubin’s appointment to the Economic Development Commission to reflect the ordinance‑specified 9/1/22–8/31/26 term; revising Harbor Management Commission member Robert DeRosa’s OnBoard directory term to 2/17/26–2/16/29; adjusting one Flood and Erosion Control Board vacant seat term and reappointing Kate MacKenzie to a 3/1/26–2/28/31 term; and directing edits to the Waterford Shellfish Commission roster to add a third alternate and set three member seats to 1/6/24–1/5/28. The board also appointed Jonathan VanderPutten to the Shellfish Commission for the remainder of the 1/6/2024–1/5/2028 term. All appointment and directory correction motions passed unanimously, 3‑0.
On the consent agenda the board approved a tax refund of $13,138.46 and approved the February 17, 2026 regular meeting minutes and March 9, 2026 special meeting minutes (the March 9 minutes were amended to correct Selectman Attanasio’s reported late arrival time).
