Tolland finance committee approves $7,273.92 transfer from reserve fund to cover part of fire truck repairs

Fire Chief Eric Munson III presented an estimate from Allegiance Trucks in West Springfield for $9,912.96 to repair a 2013 7500 SBA 6X4 MAXXFORCE vehicle, and committee members approved using the Reserve Fund’s remaining balance for the shortfall.
Chair Cathleen Parzych recorded that the Reserve Fund balance was $7,273.92 after a prior transfer of $7,726.08 to address a shortfall in the 911 communications build-out. The minutes state that the committee voted to transfer the entire remaining Reserve Fund balance, $7,273.92, to the Fire Department budget; the minutes do not list a mover, seconder or a vote tally by name.
Committee member Joanne Duval gave a public disclosure at the start of the meeting that she has a relationship with Fire Chief Eric Munson III and stated she could vote impartially on the item. The minutes record Chief Munson presenting the repair estimate and that he will use remaining funds in the Fire Department’s 2026 fiscal budget to cover the portion of the repair cost not covered by the Reserve Fund transfer.
