Board hears overview of SAFI 2.0, survey and training plans

The Town of Danvers Board of Health on March 5 received an overview of SAFI 2.0, the state's effort to standardize local public-health reporting and staffing qualifications across Massachusetts.
Board members were told that the state launched a workforce-standards survey on Feb. 23. The anonymous survey requests completion by April 10 and is estimated to take 15'20 minutes. The state is also creating standardized training modules for local inspectors covering food, housing, pools and nuisance programs, and is offering optional training for board members.
Meeting notes said FEMA ICS/NIMS 100 and 700 courses are temporarily offline due to federal issues and that alternate access options are being explored. The board was told that SAFI 2.0 is part of the broader Blueprint for Public Health Excellence and that forthcoming state performance standards will evaluate local departmental capacity for inspection and public-health responsibilities.
Board members did not take formal action on SAFI 2.0 at the meeting; staff and the board discussed the workforce survey deadline and potential training needs. Next steps recorded in the minutes include circulating state guidance to members and following up on alternate access for ICS/NIMS coursework.
