Lake City Council adopts Ordinance 417, approves signatory changes and sets levy hearing

Lake City — At its Feb. 2 regular meeting the Lake City City Council took several formal actions, including adopting Ordinance 417, approving administrative signatory changes and scheduling a public hearing on the proposed FY2027 tax levy rate.
On the meeting floor the council approved the third reading and adoption of Ordinance 417, the amended and restated plan for the city’s Urban Revitalization Area. The roll call vote was Ayes — Bruns, Wilson, Gorden, Daniel and Vogt; Nays — none.
Council then adopted Resolution 2026-07 to update authorized city signatories. The roll call vote recorded Ayes — Bruns, Gorden, Daniel and Vogt; Councilmember Wilson recorded an abstention.
Resolution 2026-09 was approved to set a special meeting and public hearing regarding the proposed FY2027 tax levy rate; the council voted unanimously on that item.
The council recorded motions on other routine items: approval of the consent agenda (agenda, Jan. 19 minutes, Casey’s alcohol license renewal and claims list) carried unanimously; a motion to grant Western Iowa Service a 30-day extension to complete contracted tree removal work was made; council tabled further discussion of pool wages and hiring until staff consults with the pool manager; and a motion to accept USDA loan documents for the wastewater improvements was made after a phone-in report from USDA area specialist Dana Davis.
