Lake City hears updated wastewater schedule, asks consultant to pursue grants and a rate study

Lake City Council received an update on the wastewater project on Feb. 16 and directed the engineering consultant to pursue funding options and a rate study.
Dave Sturm of Snyder & Associates presented an updated project schedule and described grant opportunities that could offset project costs. Sturm said he would investigate the grants further and provide additional updates to staff and the council. He also advised that a rate study could be used to inform future utility rates tied to wastewater system improvements.
Council took no binding action on funding sources but asked the consultant to report back with options and the results of any preliminary grant screening and a proposed scope for a rate study.
Next steps: Snyder & Associates will research grant eligibility and prepare information for staff to include in future budget discussions and project planning.
