City Administrator updates council on FY 2027 budget; tourism funding urged

City Administrator Dennis Bockenstedt updated the City of Le Claire Committee of the Whole on preparations for the FY 2027 budget during the committee’s Jan. 5 meeting at City Hall Council Chambers.
Bockenstedt invited council feedback on priorities for the coming fiscal year. Council Member Bill Bloom said he would like to see more tourists visiting Le Claire and requested a larger allocation for the Tourism budget. Council Member Sara Gravert said the city should continue pursuing additional grant opportunities to fund priorities. Council Member Ryan Salvador urged the council to maintain a fiscally conservative approach as staff finalizes budget proposals.
The discussion was informational; no motions or votes on the FY 2027 budget were recorded during the session. The meeting convened at 6:58 p.m. and adjourned at 7:05 p.m. following a motion to adjourn moved by Council Member Bill Bloom and seconded by Council Member Amy Blair. The motion carried on a unanimous voice vote; individual roll-call tallies were not recorded in the minutes.
