Malone board approves NYMIR insurance, hires Passero for airport engineering and signs off on bills and routine matters

The Town Board of Malone on July 25 approved a set of routine and operational actions including adoption of a NYMIR insurance proposal, acceptance of a five-year airport engineering contract and the payment of audited bills totaling $182,915.34.
Insurance: Pat (Patrick) Maguire of Sid G Spear presented proposed changes and new options for the town’s 2024–2025 NYMIR insurance policy. On a motion by Supervisor Andrea Stewart and a second by Councilor Jody Johnston the board voted 5–0 to accept the NYMIR proposal with two changes including a $2,500 deductible.
Airport engineering: Councilor Jody Johnston moved and Deputy Supervisor Terrence Maguire seconded approval of Passero Associates’ proposal for airport engineering services for a five-year term beginning June 26, 2024 and ending June 26, 2029. The motion passed unanimously.
Fees and finance: The board considered a letter from King-Clark Insurance requesting waiver of a fee for late proof of insurance and voted 5–0 (Deputy Maguire motion, Councilor Johnston second) not to waive any fees. The board also approved a journal entry per a Comptroller notice (moving funds listed in the record) and authorized payment of Batch No. 1489 (Voucher Nos. 590–626) across multiple funds totaling $182,915.34.
Highway and community notes: Highway Superintendent Michael Andrews reported crews are repairing washouts, addressing driveway repairs after paving, working on Bloomer Road and using remaining 284 gravel; he praised two summer employees as “an amazing help.” Town Clerk Abby Monica reported two bids were received for American Legion baseball field bleachers; the Baseball Committee and board will review them.
