Warren County schools report progress on basement doors, cafeteria project, buses, bleachers and middle‑school awnings

West Basement: staff said the delivered doors for the West Basement are on site and an installation contractor is scheduled to finish installation and tie in the alarm system this week, with a final walkthrough likely before the start of the school year in August.
High‑school cafeteria and site work: staff reported a notice to proceed has been issued for the cafeteria project. One remaining bid for soil work was opened with only one bidder, so staff expects a short approval process; equipment for the project is expected to arrive soon. Crews may need to use grass areas to stage equipment so student parking is not unduly affected.
New bus fleet: staff noted a new fleet of buses is on the high‑school campus and each vehicle must pass inspection before being placed into service; buses may be moved temporarily to allow large equipment access for cafeteria work.
West Gym and bleachers: bonds for the West Gym project are complete; staff expects construction to begin in September or October with an anticipated completion by Christmas. New high‑school bleachers have been ordered and staff said removal and installation will take about one to two weeks, with the goal of having them in place for basketball season.
Middle‑school awnings and maintenance: one awning at the middle school has begun construction and a contract for a second awning is in place. Staff also reported usual summer maintenance activities such as floor waxing and routine upkeep.
Board members asked logistical questions about parking during construction and sought an update on east‑side plumbing and sewer issues; staff said they would check status and follow up with more information.
