Mayor credits public works for storm response; Westwood previews Greenways Master Plan

Bell said the project aims to create a connected on‑ and off‑street network to promote walkable and bikeable trips within the city and that the team will gather community feedback at the Red, White & Boom event and through steering‑committee work. He asked councilors to encourage residents to visit the project tent and participate.
Bell said the project team has engaged the school board, chamber and other local groups; a draft plan is expected in late summer or early fall for council review.
Next steps: Westwood will return with a draft for council consideration and continued public outreach; the mayor and staff will continue capital work on regional detention projects (Blackwater Bayou, Shoo Creek, Drawing Creek) to reduce future flooding risks.
