Rachel Morgan, senior manager of community outreach and fan engagement for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), told the council the IMS is seeking to bring the NASCAR Cup Hauler Parade back to Main Street for the Brickyard 400 weekend, using some exterior lots and partners such as Allison Transmission.
"We're looking to have a very similar copy and paste‑style event, bringing all of the NASCAR Cup Haulers down Main Street for fans to get an up‑close and personal look at the haulers and teams," Morgan said, noting IMS will provide restrooms, hand‑washing stations and a medical tent and that IMS plans not to operate an on‑site beer garden so that fans patronize local businesses.
Councilors moved and seconded approval of the special event request and a waiver of additional fees beyond the SRC lot rental; the motion passed 4–0. Councilors and staff expressed support for the family‑friendly event and its potential to drive foot traffic to Main Street businesses.
