Simsbury subcommittee readies Aging‑in‑Place Expo; local media to promote events

The Age‑Friendly Community Subcommittee of Simsbury’s Aging and Disability Commission said Tuesday it is lining up vendors and community partners for this year’s Aging‑in‑Place Expo, with 23 of 24 tables already claimed and local public access media agreeing to promote and record related programs, the subcommittee reported.
Chair Jan Beatty told members she met with Shannon Knoll of Simsbury Community Media, who said the outlet is willing to advertise age‑friendly events and tape programs tied to the commission’s work. The subcommittee discussed continuing outreach to other community partners to broaden promotion.
Most vendors from last September’s Expo have indicated they will return, and a new vendor, Amy Woodman, a dietician with Farmington Valley Nutrition & Wellness, was listed as joining the show. The subcommittee noted that an extra table will be used to make relevant literature available to attendees.
Members also discussed producing a small resource‑guide magnet for distribution. Trailhead Printing provided an estimated price of about $1.00 per 3x4 magnet; Beatty said she will draft the magnet text and circulate it to subcommittee members for review.
The subcommittee will continue partner outreach and vendor confirmations ahead of the Expo and will report back at the next meeting. The group adjourned at 3:05 p.m.; the next meeting is May 5, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. via Zoom.
