Holly McGrath, chair of the Simsbury Public Library Board of Trustees and co-chair of the strategic plan committee, presented an overview of a proposed 2027–2031 strategic plan and asked the community to participate in a survey and two listening sessions that will shape the final plan.
McGrath highlighted recent library usage statistics, reporting about 30,000 items checked out in March and more than 325,000 visits to the Library during 2025. She described the plan as a five-year guide to align programming and services with community needs, emphasizing intergenerational programming and partnerships with Social Services, Parks and Recreation, Public Works and local nonprofits.
The plan development includes public surveys, listening sessions, and data analysis. McGrath asked the Board and residents to complete the survey (which closes at the end of May) and invited the public to two listening sessions: April 28 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church and May 5 at 3:30 p.m. at the Library. The Library Board of Trustees intends to adopt the new strategic plan by the end of the year.
