The board authorized release of construction bids for renovations to the county Emergency Operations Center. Staff described a project to remove an interior wall, reintroduce the original open footprint, add in-floor receptacles and data connections, and modernize audio-visual systems so the space can be configured flexibly during training and emergency operations. Joby said the current construction estimate is about $182,000, which staff said remains below the $200,000 that the board had budgeted for this work.
Supervisors and staff discussed the long development timeline for the project; one participant noted the wall being removed had been added around 2004–05 and that the renovation will return the room to its original, more flexible configuration. The board approved releasing the bid package so competitive bids can be solicited and returned to the board for award recommendations.
