Noah Levitt was elected chair of the Town of Danvers Board of Library Trustees in a 5–4 roll-call vote at the board’s reorganization meeting.
The board opened nominations and heard brief statements from nominees before closing nominations and proceeding to a roll-call ballot because one trustee was participating remotely. Levitt received five yes votes to four no votes and was declared chair. He then presided over the rest of the meeting.
Trustees also filled other officer positions. Jessica was elected vice chair by unanimous roll-call vote. Ken Lee was elected treasurer in a roll-call vote. After a contested nomination for recording secretary between Corey and Julie Curtis, Curtis was elected recording secretary in the ensuing roll call.
The board then approved the minutes of its April 8 meeting (with several abstentions from trustees who were not present at that meeting) and voted to accept the treasurer’s report for the period ending April 30. The treasurer reported account activity and an ending balance; trustees voted to approve the report by roll call.
The newly seated officers will carry out routine duties for the coming term; Levitt, as chair, will run subsequent meetings.
