Clay County Commission issues honorary resolutions for local educators, vocational services and citizen volunteers

The Clay County Commission used its ceremonial time to present three recognitions: an honorary resolution for vocational services' 60th anniversary (2026-181), a retirement resolution honoring Dr. Jeremy Tucker for 12 years as Liberty Public Schools superintendent (2026-180), and a citizen challenge coin presented to Sherry Holtman under item 2026-185.

Commissioners praised vocational services for providing meaningful employment and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities. Commissioner Nolte and Commissioner Wagner encouraged residents and businesses to engage with the program and consider it as a reliable partner for printing and assembly work.

Commissioners also recognized Dr. Jeremy Tucker for district leadership, noting accomplishments under his tenure including a facilities master planning process and a $112 million no-tax-increase bond approved by voters. Dr. Tucker thanked the commission, introduced family members and a school board member present at the meeting, and said he and his family will continue to support Liberty Public Schools and Clay County.

Finally, Commissioner Wagner presented a Clay County 250 citizen challenge coin to Sherry Holtman and described the challenge activities (reading founding documents, community service, meeting public officials, voting) that will continue through the November election and are supported by claycounty250.org. Ms. Holtman encouraged others to participate and described her interest in local history.

These items were ceremonial presentations; the meeting proceeded to the regular agenda after the recognitions.
