Commissioner Wagner read the proclamation describing the citizen challenge—activities include reading founding documents, voting, attending public meetings and performing community service—and noted Kane had completed multiple challenge activities. Kane, who said he has been interested in elections for 65 years and regularly serves as an election judge, described recruiting high school students to assist at polling places under state statute permitting 15–17-year-olds to serve. He said he plans outreach around the August election and encouraged the commission and community to support student participation.
Commissioners thanked Kane for his service and for promoting civic engagement. No action items were associated with the presentation.
