Board adopts 50-plus item consent resolution and approves payment of bills
Summary

At the June 18 meeting the South River Board of Education adopted a consent resolution that bundled routine and non-controversial agenda items for one vote.
Vice President Nielsen moved the consent resolution, which the board described as adopting items across multiple sections of the agenda, including superintendent items (3.1—3.2), president items (5.2 and 5.8), finance items (8.1—8.58 plus 8.51—8.58 as listed), instruction items (9.1—9.7), policy and legislation items (11.1—11.8), human-resources items (12.1—12.29 plus 12.28—12.29), safety and risk management items (13.1—13.3) and residency item 14.1. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Saddowski and adopted by voice vote; the board chair announced the consent resolution passed.
The board also approved payment of certified bills upon the finance committees recommendation; Mrs. Level moved the payment motion and Mrs. Saddowski seconded. The motion carried by voice vote.
After completing the consent agenda and financial approvals the board opened and closed a second public comment period (no speakers), then moved into a closed executive session pursuant to sections seven and eight of the Open Public Meetings Act to discuss matters appropriate for closed session, including upcoming negotiations. The attorney noted contract negotiations with the districts bargaining representatives will begin in the coming months.
