The Mulberry City Commission adopted Resolution RES 2026-10 on May 5 to confirm and ratify an 8% employer matching contribution for department directors under the city's adoption agreement with the Florida Municipal Pension Trust Fund. Finance staff explained the resolution corrects an omission in prior paperwork by formalizing the matching contribution back to Aug. 19, 2020.
Commissioner Divine moved to adopt RES 2026-10; Commissioner Ervin seconded the motion. Commissioners voted by voice, and the resolution passed unanimously.
According to staff, the matching contribution had been applied administratively beginning Aug. 19, 2020, but the city lacked a formal commission action on record to confirm the practice in its adoption agreement until this resolution. The resolution also repeals conflicting prior resolutions and provides an effective date for the clarified policy.
The adoption places the matching contribution on the city's formal record; staff said no immediate additional budgetary appropriation was discussed at the meeting. If implementation requires future budget amendments, staff will bring those to the commission for consideration.
