At the June 1 meeting of the Douglasville City Council, two residents used the public‑comment period to raise safety and traffic concerns.
First, a resident identified as Cindy Welch asked why a sign on Chapel Hill Road near the Target store appeared to prohibit vehicles "over six wheels." The mayor and staff said they would have the police and public‑safety staff investigate and noted the sign may have been posted by the county.
Later, Brenda Young Edwards of 3155 Beaver Drive described a months‑long series of burglaries and alleged that security cameras and phones had been tampered with during break‑ins. "We've spent a lot of money on multiple cameras and we've taken them back and gotten more and each and every time they're altered," Edwards said, describing thefts that included jewelry and other personal property. She said she and family members were frightened and exhausted by repeated incidents and that she had contacted the sheriff's office without a resolution.
Mayor Rochelle Robinson responded that Edwards' neighborhood appears to be in unincorporated county territory rather than inside Douglasville city limits. Robinson said staff would take Edwards' contact information after the meeting and forward it to county authorities to ensure the resident's concerns are investigated further. "Staff will take some information from you after the meeting and we will connect you with the county," Robinson said.
The council did not take formal action on either concern during the meeting; staff committed to follow up with public‑safety partners and the county.
