Samantha Rosado presented a routine renewal agreement with the Douglasville Convention and Visitors Bureau, Inc., asking the council to authorize the mayor to sign an agreement that would extend the city‑CVB arrangements beginning July 1, 2026 through July 30, 2027 (noting a correction that the renewal is intended to cover the 2027 fiscal year).
Rosado explained the hotel/motel tax collection and distribution: "We do collect an 8% hotel motel tax. 3% gets remitted back to general fund. 1 and 1/2% goes towards tourism product development, and then 3 and a half percent goes towards tourism convention and trade shows," she said.
Council members queried timing of quarterly payments and confirmed no substantive changes in the agreement from prior years. The council agreed to place the renewal on the consent agenda for the Monday voting meeting so the agreement can be formally executed at that meeting if approved.
Because the item was discussed in a work session, no formal authorization occurred tonight.
