Bernalillo council approves sale of industrial-park parcel to support AMFAB expansion

The Town of Bernalillo on Dec. 22 approved Ordinance 365 authorizing the sale of a small triangular parcel in the Bernalillo Industrial Park Subdivision to MSJ.LLC. The ordinance lists an appraised value and purchase price of $85,862 for 0.0857 acres and directs town staff to complete the conveyance; it becomes effective 45 days after adoption.
Mayor Torres opened a public hearing on the ordinance and invited comments. Mark Mosher, owner of AMFAB, told the Council the adjacent parcel is needed for runoff management related to the company’s current expansion. "This little piece of property will give us a place for some runoff to go to support our facility," Mosher said, adding the expansion would likely employ 15 to 20 additional personnel and, in a second phase, "another 75 to 100 people over time." He thanked the Town for prior assistance that enabled the business to operate and expand in Bernalillo.
Councilor Valverde moved to approve Ordinance 365; Councilor Montoya seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote (Montoya, Prairie, Valverde). The ordinance text requires publication before and after adoption in accordance with Sections 3-1-2 and 3-17-3 NMSA 1978 and sets the effective date 45 days after adoption.
The ordinance lists the purchaser as MSJ.LLC of Bernalillo and states the municipal purpose as "disposition of unused real property to promote economic development within the Town." Town officials did not provide additional permit or infrastructure timelines during the hearing. The Town’s minutes record the appraisal and purchase price as identical; further property conveyance steps are to be completed by Town staff as authorized in the ordinance. The Council adjourned other business following standard agenda items.
