Dublin awards Springdale Park construction contract to local firm

The Dublin City Council on Nov. 20 approved Resolution 2560 to award a construction management-at-risk contract for the Springdale Park improvement project to Dublin Construction Company after a staff evaluation committee reviewed qualifications and interviewed firms.
City Manager Josh Powell said the city intentionally sought contractor input early in design work to identify constructability issues and save costs. "When contractors are involved early on, they can spot those things that will save us money," Powell said, adding that the firm’s proposal was "very competitive." Representatives from Dublin Construction, Jimmy Williams and Chris Morris, attended the meeting.
The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute the contract; council moved and seconded the award and approved it by voice vote. Staff said the contractor will assist with design refinement and cost control, and the project will move forward under a construction management-at-risk agreement. Council members expressed appreciation for using a local firm where possible and looked forward to project implementation.
