Woodford County adopts $50,000 emergency water assistance resolution

The Woodford County Fiscal Court adopted Resolution 2026-08 to allocate $50,000 from the county general fund to provide emergency water assistance and infrastructure support for households, businesses and rural water districts.
Judge introduced the resolution, saying the fund would help provide delivery of potable water in urgent situations (including for livestock), pay for emergency contractors to assist restoration, support ground-penetrating-radar services for accurate water-line location, and cover diagnostic services and other crisis responses.
Emergency Management Director Drew Chandler said the county has a statewide mutual-aid agreement and that adding districts to that framework could expedite shared resources during crises. Squire Varner urged residents to pursue conservation-district programs for added resilience, such as cisterns and pumps for farm use.
The court voted unanimously to adopt the resolution and directed the county emergency management agency to coordinate implementation with fire departments, road crews and rural water providers.
What happens next: Emergency Management will coordinate distribution and services, and the court requested reports on expenditures and assistance provided at a future meeting.
