Dunedin commission adopts ordinance setting Nov. 3 municipal election

City Attorney/Clerk Jen read the ordinance by title during the meeting’s second reading. The ordinance specifies that the city election will be held under the City Charter and that the city clerk may sign agreements necessary to conduct the election. Commission members raised no substantive questions during the second reading.
Commissioner Dugard moved to adopt the ordinance and Commissioner Steven Sandbergen seconded. Commissioners Gow, Vice Mayor Walker, Sandbergen, Dugard and Mayor Freaney each voiced “aye” on the record and the ordinance passed unanimously. No public speakers addressed the ordinance during the meeting.
The measure implements the schedule for the municipal contest and leaves the mechanics of candidate petitions and any needed administrative agreements to the city clerk. The ordinance references the City Charter (Section 5.04) as the authority for establishing election procedures.
The commission did not attach additional conditions to the adoption; staff will proceed with implementing the calendar and any required agreements ahead of the November date.
