Dublin Council approves application for disaster-relief funds to replace Ferry Branch sewer main

At the Nov. 25 special call, the Dublin City Council approved Resolution 2561 authorizing submission of an application for One Georgia hurricane disaster-relief funds to replace approximately 1,500 feet of the Ferry Branch sewer main.
Mr. Powell told the council the city previously retained Carter & Sloope for preliminary engineering and for preparing the grant application. A map in the packet shows the proposed 1,500-foot replacement and staff described the work as necessary sewer main improvements in the area between Mincy Street, U.S. 441 and Moore/Colombia streets.
Councilman Brown moved to approve submitting the grant application, Councilman Griggs seconded, and the council voted in favor. Staff and council members expressed no opposition on the record; the council approved moving forward with the grant application.
Why it matters: the project would replace degraded sewer main infrastructure using disaster-relief funds rather than city capital dollars. If funded, the replacement would affect sewer service in the local corridor identified in council materials.
The council moved to the added EDA co-application item after approving the sewer grant application.
