Dublin council: awards, routine purchases and one board appointment approved

Council approved bills over $15,000 as presented in the packet and authorized replacement of a tire balancing machine from Lewis Tool and Equipment LLC of Baxley, Georgia at a cost of $16,860.33 (staff said the purchase will be funded by reprioritizing a previously budgeted tire changer).
On appointments, council approved a joint nomination from the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners and confirmed Michael Matet to the economic development authority; the council recorded one nay during the voice vote as announced by the presiding officer. During citizen comments resident Japan Denise Jon Wright urged greater access to public comment, said citizens face decisions about council and school-board seats, and criticized perceived limits on speech at meetings.
Council members closed with community announcements — including a Tail Fair event and a near-complete Pritchette Park project with a planned ribbon cutting in November — and adjourned.
