Geneseo swears in police sergeant; resident raises cemetery flower thefts

During the later public‑comment period, a resident identified as Ann reported that in the past month flowers had been taken from monuments at both Oakwood and the city’s North cemetery. The resident said bases and tied arrangements were removed from monuments and asked whether the city was having recurring problems with theft. A staff member suggested notifying the police chief directly; the chief (on the record) said he was not aware of thefts.
No formal action was taken at the meeting on the theft complaints; staff encouraged residents to report incidents directly so police can investigate. The council then moved to adjourn.
