The Burlington City Council voted May 4 to approve a solar power generation easement agreement with Red Lion Burlington Solar LLC that allows the company to install solar equipment on two city‑owned parcels: the reclex (501 South Broadway) and the animal shelter (2000 North Roosevelt).
City staff member Mr. Bird said the easement adds legal descriptions for the two parcels (Exhibit A) and incorporates the previously approved power purchase agreement (PPA) as Exhibit B so the PPA governs operations and power purchases. "In the short version, it allows them to install their equipment, of which the city is buying power on city property," Mr. Bird said.
The public hearing was opened and closed without opposition. Council voted 5–0 to approve a resolution authorizing the easement and related documents.
Staff noted the easement formalizes terms discussed in the work session and does not change the previously approved PPA; legal exhibits were added to clarify property descriptions. No financial details beyond the previously approved PPA were presented at the May 4 meeting.
