City reopens bid process for 417 South Garfield, one rehabilitation bid on file

City staff told the Burlington council that the sale of a residential property known as 417 South Garfield Avenue was rescinded at earlier meetings and the property returned to city ownership. The city will again solicit public bids under the original conditions requiring the purchaser to rehabilitate the home.
Staff said one bid is currently on record — $5,000 from Plum and Properties LLC — but the city will accept additional bids during the public hearing/auction process at the upcoming council meeting. Council clarified that the previous temporary owner is not eligible to re-bid under the city’s stated conditions.
The matter will proceed through the established public-bid process and be considered at the next council meeting when bids are opened and evaluated.
