Commission issues several wetlands determinations, a compliance certificate and accepts an amended Order

At its May 27 meeting the Great Barrington Conservation Commission issued negative determinations for multiple local projects, approved a Certificate of Compliance for invasive-species work, continued a renovation NOI, and accepted an amended Order of Conditions for a Division Street property, all by unanimous votes.
The Conservation Commission handled a series of routine permitting items and project updates at its May 27 meeting, issuing determinations and approvals by unanimous roll call votes.
Commissioners approved a Negative Determination #3 for work at 204 North Street (applicant: Anthony Conway Jr.) after noting the proposed garage would be outside regulated resource areas and that straw wattles and silt fencing would be installed during construction. The commission also issued a Negative Determination #2 for a proposed connection of Butternut to the Fire District water supply; the motion included special conditions requiring updated erosion and sediment controls on the plan and a requirement that the Conservation Agent be notified and inspect prior to any main-break repairs.
A Negative Determination #2 was issued for temporary construction access to install a well at 12 West Plain Road (Mollie Conlee), with the presentation noting gravel access would be removed and the area restored after work. The commission issued a Negative Determination #3 for a five-year vegetation-management update presented by TEC Associates on behalf of Housatonic Railroad Co.; presenters said sensitive areas would not be sprayed.
Emily Stockman of Stockman and Associates certified completion of invasive-species management at 139 Alford Road and the commission voted to issue a Certificate of Compliance for DEP File #167-0397. Stockman also presented a separate Notice of Intent for renovation and septic replacement at the same property; the commission continued that public hearing to June 24 at 6:30 p.m. for further review and for a pending Natural Heritage determination.
White Engineering's Aaron Biasin presented an amended Order of Conditions for 172 Division Street (Navins & Forster) reflecting a Fire Department'required driveway redesign, a downsized house and increased stormwater management; the commission accepted the amendment.
All motions on these items passed by roll call vote, 7-0. The meeting closed with a report of an Emergency Certification to the Department of Conservation and Recreation for removal of two dead ash trees at Beartown State Forest, confirmation of $60,000 in the commission account and scheduling of upcoming meetings.
