At a meeting Aug. 5, 2025, the Rushford Village City Council approved July financials, authorized submission of a state disaster claim for damage from the July 29 wind storm and adopted updated pay rates and personnel changes.
Clerk Mary Miner reported July expenses of $126,401.79, receipts of $49,007.32 and a bank balance of $393,777.54. Miner identified major near‑term expenditures including a Pearson Bros. chip seal contract for $48,238.00 and the recently delivered F550 vehicle set up/plow/sander at $50,759.00. Miner said the budget will be tight until the next levy payment in December.
The council voted to submit a state disaster claim after Fillmore County’s preliminary assessment showed the community’s estimated eligible damages and cleanup at $4,853.45 (county threshold per category to apply is $4,000). Miner cautioned that staff time spent compiling documentation and attending meetings would not be claimable as reimbursable hours. The motion to submit the claim was moved by Robert Hart and seconded by Rick Ruberg and recorded as carried; no roll‑call vote tally was provided in the minutes.

The council also authorized sale of the 2012 F450 at auction and inspected the new F550; a hitch will be purchased and the truck will be decaled.
Clerk Miner and Treasurer Judy Graham outlined preliminary items for the 2026 budget, noting combined projected state revenue (LGA and Small City Assistance) of $96,573, which is $17,006 less than 2025. Council asked staff and the city attorney to research procedural and legal questions raised during budget discussion, including questions about compensating absent council members for meeting review and adjusting sewer base rates by water use.
The council adjourned at 8:18 p.m.; next regular meetings are scheduled for Aug. 19 and Sept. 2, 2025.
