Rushford Village council seeks county support to include contracted tree removal in storm cleanup

Clerk Mary Miner reported the town’s storm clean-up expenses to date total $8,580.85. Council Member Mike Ebner said multiple tree tops broken in a recent wind event are hung too high for the city’s equipment to reach and that contracting their removal may be necessary. Miner and Ebner will attend a Fillmore County meeting in Preston the following day to present the town’s storm damage costs and to ask whether hiring a contractor for those high tree tops can be included in county storm-damage reimbursement.
The discussion noted that some damage is being tracked as potentially eligible for disaster funding, but no formal decision to hire a contractor was made at the meeting. Council members emphasized they are seeking clarity from county officials on what storm-related expenses will be eligible for reimbursement.
The council did not take a vote at the meeting to contract for tree removals; Miner and Ebner will report back after the county meeting.
