Brookfield committee approves multiple liquor and operator licenses, postpones several applications and referrals

Alderman Gary Mahkorn called the Brookfield City Legislative & Licensing Committee to order June 16 and the panel, by unanimous votes, approved a series of alcohol- and operator-license items and two fireworks permits while postponing several other license requests and three legislative referrals.
The committee approved the June 2, 2026 minutes by a 5-0 vote. It then approved a renewal for bartender/operator Skylar L. Townsend (motion by Alderman Chuck Bloom III, seconded by Alderman Tom Szews), and granted an original bartender/operator license to Jason D. Wagner (motion by Alderman Bloom, seconded by Alderman Peter Stoll); both motions carried 5-0. Several other original bartender/operator applications were postponed: Zachary R. Balkowski and LillyAnn R. Sebastian were postponed because the applicants did not appear, and Jamie A. Hankins was postponed until she completes outstanding court dates. Each postponement was approved 5-0.
The committee took items 4g through 4j together and approved multiple Class B beer and liquor licenses and renewals, including a new-owner application for AH Bluemound Ventures LLC, dba Doubletree by Hilton Milwaukee/Brookfield, agent Inaam Arshad. Renewals approved included licenses for Americinn by Wyndham Brookfield; Coopers Hawk Winery & Restaurant; Elite Brookfield; Embassy Suites Hotel; The Red Mill Inn; and Osaka Ramen Hibachi, among others listed on the agenda. The same motion included approval of two fireworks user permits for Spielbauer Fireworks Co. for events at Brookfield East High School on Sept. 18, 2026 (contact Mike Greuel) and Brookfield Central High School on Oct. 9, 2026 (contact Matt Dapelo). That motion carried 5-0.
A new massage-business license application for SLB Day Spa Inc., dba Neroli Salon and Spa (agent Susan Haise) was postponed because the applicant did not appear. Alderman Tom Szews moved to postpone; Alderman Bloom seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
Near the end of the meeting, the committee took three legislative referrals together — a proposal titled “Welcoming All Religions and Cultures” (filed by Ald. Monty), revisions to Section 15.04.420 addressing residential accessory buildings (Ald. Hallquist), and an amendment to Section 2.12.160.C.1 regarding a 30-day decision timeframe (Ald. Hallquist). The committee postponed all three referrals due to time constraints; the motion passed 5-0.
The committee adjourned at 7:46 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
