Township: North Reeds Road bridge reopened with 3-ton limit; full replacement targeted for 2028

The Board of Supervisors was told Thursday that county bridge No. 134 on North Reeds Road over the East Branch Brandywine Creek has reopened to traffic following temporary repairs but remains posted with a 3‑ton weight limit.
Township Manager Luke Revan said the county plans additional daytime closures over the next 60 days while its bridge crew completes work on the north abutment. Given the age and condition of the structure, the county has identified the bridge for full replacement, a project Revan said is anticipated in 2028.
Revan asked residents to heed weight restrictions and noted that the temporary repairs allowed traffic to resume while longer-term replacement planning continues. Board members sought confirmation about local detours and whether neighboring roads that appear closed will be available for route plans; Revan said he would follow up with PennDOT and the new project manager to confirm detour routing.
The board did not take formal action on the bridge at the meeting; Revan said the county is responsible for replacement scheduling and noted the township will coordinate as necessary.
