Mobbs Committee closes FY’26 within budget and outlines near-term maintenance work

Line items recorded in the minutes included $3,069 for completion of the Apple Tree Trail (payable to Lackey Land Works), $4,800 for trail mowing and brush hogging (All Phase Property Maintenance), approximately $300 for orchard expenses, and $36 for a Snowdog cover. Remaining payables noted were $2,000 to Fellowship of the Wheel (FOTW) for annual trail maintenance and $2,767 to Rabbit Tracks Trail Works for materials associated with the boardwalk project.
Committee members said those obligations — together with the planned Rabbit Tracks project and rising mowing/maintenance costs — will consume most of the FY’27 budget. Jessica Dion commented that the Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Committee (BPCC) could support Mobbs Farm trails through its budget if additional funds are needed.
Other maintenance and amenity items discussed included Riley Glanz’s recent replacement of three damaged rails on the Ridge Trail bridge (hemlock 14' x 1" x 4"), BPCC interest in bench or picnic table placements (committee favored a bench along Mill Brook and relocating a picnic table to Mills Riverside Park), FOTW’s completed switchback bypass on Browns Trace Access/Americana (noted as Eric Winter’s final FOTW project), and a blowdown on Old #4 that Terry Hook reduced to step-over height but said will require chainsaw removal.
The meeting ended at 8:29 p.m.; the next monthly meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m.
