City staff told council on June 22 that the annual trash-rate formula in the contract with Republic Services results in a 4.86% 12-month rolling adjustment. For many households with a 96-gallon collection service, that translates to a rate increase of about $1.13 per month (from $23.21 to $24.34) effective Aug. 1; Republic Services will notify customers directly.
Staff explained that the adjustment follows a contract formula tied to Bureau of Labor Statistics measures and that staff will publish notices on the city’s website and social channels.
That change will appear on bills beginning in August and staff said they would answer questions from residents as needed.
