The Facilities Advisory Committee received a detailed update on library systems and building maintenance following a June meeting with architects and contractors.
Don Grizzle reported discovery of several baseboard heaters that had not been connected and valves left open; the team corrected the issue and performed filter and system tune-ups. The library staff will receive training to operate the energy-management system and to recognize faults and escalation contacts.
Committee members said a prior commissioning agent, Paul Levali, remains involved; many of the earlier commissioning issues have been identified and are being addressed. Julia is coordinating a free energy audit with a vendor (referred to at the meeting) that may produce recommendations and lead to grant applications, though outcomes are preliminary.
Members discussed pooling maintenance contracts across multiple town facilities (library, town hall, recreation) to seek better pricing; staff (Jeff, public works) was asked to follow up. The committee suggested a later lessons-learned review of how earlier projects were administered to improve contract oversight on future work.
No formal actions were taken; the committee asked staff to continue follow-up and to bring any contract-pooling proposals back to a future meeting.
