Committee advances draft of Chapter 9 zoning changes after public hearing on tourist rooming houses

The Oneida County Planning and Development Committee held a public hearing April 29, 2026, on Ordinance Amendment #13-2025, which proposes changes to Chapter 9 of the Oneida County Zoning and Shoreland Protection Ordinance, including Administrative Review, Sanitary Permits, Amendments procedures and the Tourist Rooming House provisions in Section 9.58.

Karl Jennrich, Planning & Zoning Director, read the proposed changes into the record and noted that the notice of public hearing had been published in the Northwoods River News on April 14 and 21, 2026, that a proof of publication is contained in the file, and that the notice had been posted on the Oneida County Courthouse bulletin board on April 9, 2026. An affidavit of mailing and the mailing list were also placed in the file. Chair Scott Holewinski opened and then closed the public portion of the hearing; no public comments were received during the formal hearing.

After the presentation, Dan Hess moved and Bob Almekinder seconded a motion to approve the proposed changes for the purpose of placing them into resolution format and bringing that resolution back to the committee for review. With all members present voting Aye, the motion carried.
