The York Public Schools Board of Education voted on Feb. 9 to approve five teacher contracts for the 2026–27 school year, a series of motions that the board carried by roll call.
Board member Matt Holthe moved to approve the Jan. 26 minutes and later led motions on personnel; Alex Hildebrand and Brian Tonniges also moved or seconded motions during the contracts agenda. The board approved contracts for Carmalita Colburn (YES Kindergarten, A-4), Chelsi Christensen (YES Kindergarten, F-9), Liesal Hoffman (Special Education, E-0), Taylor Heinrichs (YMS ELA, A-5) and Zach Weir (YMS/YHS Instrumental Music, I-11). Each contract motion was seconded and recorded as approved by the four members present: Alex Hildebrand, Brian Tonniges, Matt Holthe and Pepper Papineau.
The contracts list the assigned school or program and step/placement codes included in the board materials (for example, A-4 for Colburn and I-11 for Weir). The transcript records the motions and roll-call approvals but does not include discussion of the contracts’ terms, salary amounts, or benefits.
Earlier in the meeting the board also voted to excuse two absent members, Alison North and Brien Alley, before proceeding to business. The meeting packet included a reported YMS STEM grant update on the agenda, but the transcript records only the item heading and no substantive details.
The board adjourned at 7:27 p.m. No additional personnel actions or dissenting votes are recorded in the transcript.
