Northfield honors police and fire personnel for lifesaving response

The Village of Northfield on June 23 recognized police and fire personnel for a coordinated lifesaving response after an adult was found unresponsive on May 18 at Shred 415 (300 South Hap Road).
President Mendrich asked Police and Fire leadership to bring responders forward and thanked them for their service. According to the presentation, Officer Ryan Delight was flagged down, found the person without a pulse, retrieved the squad car AED, and began chest compressions; fire rescue personnel — including fire medic Ryan Clement, paramedic Liam Merrill, fire medic Jim Philin, firefighter Frank Cambria, engineer Tim Murray, and Captain Mike Mils — arrived rapidly and continued care. Officials said the victim’s condition improved during transport and the person has since made a full recovery.
In remarks and applause, board members and attendees praised the responders’ training, quick judgment and teamwork. The board asked staff to coordinate a photo and formal recognition at a future meeting.
