Residents ask Dubois County to withdraw from Mid-States Corridor Regional Development Authority

During the public comment portion of the Dec. 15 meeting, resident Mark Nowotarski read a letter delivered to council members on Dec. 12 signed by 68 individuals asking Dubois County to withdraw from the Mid-States Corridor Regional Development Authority.
Nowotarski told council members the signers expressed concerns about governance, fiscal responsibility and the long-term well-being of the county, and the letter stated, "The RDA’s purpose has been completed." Bob Pfister urged the council to revoke the RDA’s charter.
Roger Pund asked the council, "Who serves on the advisory committee?" citing the Indiana Code. Teresa Kendall told members she saw similarities between the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and the Regional Development Authority and stated, "Both entities are private agencies funded by taxpayer dollars without complete transparency." Councilmember Alex P. Hohl had earlier questioned the similarity between the entities, prompting Kendall’s remarks.
The minutes record the comments and questions but do not record a response from the council or county staff or any immediate action on the RDA membership or charter status.
