Dubois County Council approves appropriations, transfers and 2026 appointments; advertises two additional funding requests

President Michael W. Kluesner presided over the Dubois County Council’s Dec. 15 meeting, where members approved multiple appropriations and appointments and set two items to be advertised for additional appropriation.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton requested a $2,000 General Fund appropriation for a donation to the EMS Ambulance Service. Councilmember Meredith I. Voegerl moved to approve the request, Councilmember Ryan Craig seconded, and the motion carried unanimously (8–0).
Morton also requested two appropriations from the county’s LIT-ED fund: $250,000 for health insurance in Personal Services and $850 for WTH maintenance support in Capital Outlay. Councilmember Ryan Craig moved and Voegerl seconded approval of the $250,000 request; Sonya Haas moved and Craig seconded approval of the $850 request. Both motions carried unanimously.
The council approved a transfer of $158.84 within the Community Corrections Adult Grant (moving funds from Travel & Training to Personal Services for Benefits and Health Insurance) on a motion by Craig and second by Councilmember Deena J. Lewis; that motion also passed unanimously.
On a separate procedural vote, the council unanimously approved the minutes of the Nov. 24, 2025 meeting (motion by Ryan Craig; second by Deena J. Lewis), and on a motion by Craig, seconded by Meredith I. Voegerl, the body unanimously confirmed a slate of 2026 appointments to boards and commissions.
Members also agreed by consensus to advertise two additional appropriations for future meetings: an annual $7,019 UPS service contract for 911 equipment (to be considered at the Jan. 2026 meeting) and a $45,000 interim-cap legal-services agreement to assist with organizing a Regional Sewer District (to be considered at the Dec. 29, 2025 meeting). The advertising is a procedural step to notify the public and include the items on the agenda for final action.
The council announced the final 2025 meeting for Dec. 29 at 9:30 a.m. and the next regular meeting on Jan. 21, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
