Rushford Village adopts county hazard mitigation plan and sets spring clean-up with higher fees

Rushford Village Council on Jan. 20 adopted Fillmore County's updated Hazard Mitigation Plan and approved the village's spring clean-up date and new pricing to offset rising disposal costs.
Council voted to adopt Resolution 2026-01-20, which accepts the 2025 Fillmore County Hazard Mitigation Plan; the resolution was presented as countywide plan update with input from city staff and elected officials. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Robert Hart, seconded by Mike Ebner, and recorded as carried.
The council also set the 2026 spring clean-up for Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon at the CRV maintenance shed. To reduce the village subsidy of the event and to better cover Harter's roll-off charges, the council approved new charges: $30 for a small load, $40 for a medium load, and $50 for a large load; an extra $10 for sideboards; TVs and large white goods $20; semi/large truck tires $20; and tractor tires under 34 inches $65. Council members discussed aligning some charges with Fillmore County's Recovery Center rates and noted the village currently charges $10 less than the county for various electronics.
Council approved formation of a Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Committee to review revised RLF application materials prepared with CEDA assistance. Glen Kopperud (Planning & Zoning) and Council Members Travis Link and Robert Hart volunteered to serve on the RLF Committee, with Jayme Longmire (CEDA) advising.
Next steps: Clerk to publish spring clean-up details and updated fees; RLF Committee to finalize the revised application and meet when applicants present.
