Rushford Village council approves well repairs, maintenance proposals and routine financials

Rushford Village Mayor Dennis Overland and council members on Feb. 17 approved a series of routine expenditures and repairs, including a parts quote to repair Well #2 and a proposal to install sensors and weather stripping on the north maintenance shed.
The council accepted January financials showing $12,360.14 in receipts and $114,142.70 in expenses and reported a bank balance of $345,893.05. The council approved the financial report (motion by Mike Ebner, second by Rick Ruberg). Treasurer Judy Graham presented the figures.
Public Works/Maintenance Supervisor Darrin Dessner told the council that Well #2 has a new pump and piping and is pumping about "11,000–15,000 gallons per day," and that roads in the township have scattered potholes. He said the post office requested street signs at south Rushford intersections but the city lacked the tools to install them. Dessner asked for up to $1,000 now to buy a 10-piece tool kit priced at $799 plus a shop vac. After discussion about budget timing and CD balances, the council voted to permit Dessner to spend the funds needed (motion by Robert Hart, second by Mike Ebner).
Separately, the council approved McCarthy Well Quote #202913 for $8,830 for parts to repair Well #2 (motion by Robert Hart, second by Mike Ebner). Council members noted it was not clear from the quote whether labor was included.
The council also approved La Crosse Overhead Door proposal P14426 for about $1,350 to add sensors and weather stripping to the north maintenance shed overhead doors. Mike Ebner said the estimate was below the planned 2026 budget for the work; the motion carried (motion by Hart, second by Ruberg).
The meeting also recorded discussion of surplus equipment: previously the city sold an F-450 and a trailer; council members said they would continue looking for needed equipment to replace or supplement current assets.
The council adjourned at 7:45 p.m.; its next scheduled meetings are March 3 and March 17.
