Council approves a series of appropriations and capital purchases, and amends salary ordinance for grant position

At its Feb. 23 meeting the Dubois County Council approved several additional appropriations and an amended salary ordinance tied to a grant-funded position.
Auditor Sandra L. Morton requested an additional General Fund appropriation of $5,201 for Circuit Court CASA match and a corresponding $5,201 appropriation in the CASA Fund (including $4,831.40 for a part-time case manager and $369.60 for FICA/benefits). Council member Deena J. Lewis moved approval; Alex P. Hohl seconded and both motions carried unanimously.
The council approved an additional $27,870 from the LIT-CR Fund for Community Corrections shower flooring repairs, and capital outlay appropriations to purchase highway equipment and dump trucks: $400,000 from the Cum Cap Fund, $132,210 from the Highway Fund and $167,790 from the Highway Restricted Fund. All motions carried unanimously.
Council also approved an amended salary ordinance to pay the Community Corrections Pretrial Services Supplemental Grant case manager $2,278.09 biweekly for a 35-hour workweek; comp time will be accrued and the grant period began in January 2026.
Auditor Morton presented the 2025 County Annual Financial Report and a list of encumbrances carried into the 2026 budget; Deena Lewis reported on Regional Sewer District meetings discussing design plans and funding sources.
Next steps: Auditor to process appropriations and coordinate capital purchases; departments to proceed with procurement and report back as required.
