Rushford Village approves Freightliner repairs, temporary plowing contract and equipment fixes

Rushford Village council on Dec. 16 authorized a set of vehicle and equipment repairs and a short-term contractor agreement to maintain rural roads while the Freightliner is out of service.
Mayor Dennis Overland and council members approved a Syverson Truck Center repair estimate of $10,296.47 after councilmember Mike Ebner reported a catastrophic front-differential failure related to an earlier rear-differential repair; Syverson will order scarce parts and return the truck to service once repairs are complete. Ebner said the repair should allow the village to avoid hiring out rock-spreading services during winter storms.
Public Works/Maintenance Supervisor Darrin Dessner reported several other issues: water leaking from a split elbow at the pump-house eye-wash station (STS Plumbing was called for repairs); snow blowing over the F550 plow into the windshield and air intake, clogging filters; and a skid steer showing an SCR error requiring a knock-sensor replacement estimated at $658 plus labor. The council approved the $658-plus-labor repair for the skid steer.
To address the F550 visibility and intake problem, council approved Universal Truck quote JM121625-01 for $320 to install a poly snow-deflector kit recommended to reduce snow intrusion and repeated filter changes.
Because the Freightliner is temporarily out of service, the council approved a clarified on-call agreement with Sveen Excavating LLC to rock and plow rural roads at $210 per hour. Under the agreement, Dessner will contact Sveen when needed; Sveen will use CRV rock-shed product and the agreement will be revised to clarify that Sveen’s paid time ends when CRV service is completed.
Council voted to approve the repairs and the temporary plowing/rocking arrangement by recorded motions. The village intends to coordinate operation and training with Syverson Truck Center when the Freightliner is returned to service.
