County approves DAR Revolutionary War marker, server upgrades and event use; Grow Dubois contract tabled

At the Feb. 2, 2026 meeting, the Dubois County Commissioners approved several administrative items: placement of a DAR America 250 Revolutionary War Patriots marker on the Courthouse east entrance (pending final design and site approval), county server upgrades, a Courthouse use agreement for a community event, and a surplus declaration. The board also tabled a proposed $40,000 Grow Dubois contract until its next meeting.
Commissioner Chad Blessinger reported that a Facebook survey about installing the DAR marker returned favorable responses; the commission approved the sign placement and designated Commissioner Nick Hostetter to coordinate with DAR representative Christine Hildenbrand. Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented a Matrix proposal to upgrade county servers to 2022 versions at a cost of $12,950.50, which the commission approved by motion. The Heart of Jasper’s request to use the Courthouse for the Pamper My Princess event on Feb. 21, 2026, was approved. Morton also requested declaring a broken Probation department chair surplus; the motion to declare the item surplus carried unanimously.
The Grow Dubois 2026 contract for $40,000 was presented but the board reached consensus to table the decision until the next meeting for further review. Catherine Blazer, Senior Fleet Consultant, provided an update that the Enterprise Fleet Management opportunity is closed for now but the Enterprise rental car program is proceeding.
These actions bundle routine county administrative business and small capital or community items; the Grow Dubois contract will return at the next meeting for further consideration.
