Dubois County assigns tax-sale certificates for Huntingburg parcels to city for redevelopment

County Attorney Gregory Schnarr presented Resolution 2026-02, which cites authority under Indiana Code chapter 6-1.1-24 and related sections. The resolution lists parcel numbers 19-11-34-402-225.000-020 and 19-11-34-402-230.000-020 and identifies the tracts as commonly addressed 410 N. Washington Street. The parcels were previously offered for tax sale and did not receive bids sufficient to satisfy delinquent taxes, special assessments, penalties, and costs, after which Dubois County became holder(s) of the tax-sale certificate(s).
The resolution states the county may assign a tax-sale certificate to a municipality for public purposes including redevelopment and blight elimination, and records that the City of Huntingburg requested assignment for those permitted public purposes. The resolution specifically names Joshua J. McBride as the prior party of record for the certificates being assigned.
A motion to approve Resolution 2026-02 was made, seconded, and carried. The board authorized the president to execute the Assignment of Tax Sale Certificate and any related documents necessary to effect the transfer in accordance with the cited Indiana Code provisions.
