The Township Council on May 20 approved two change orders to the White Rock Corporation contract for restroom renovations at Bubbling Springs, increasing the previously awarded contract in two steps to a total of $220,603.44.
Change Order No. 1 added $8,134.40 (bringing the contract to $176,644.40) to accommodate additional work tied to unforeseen building conditions. Change Order No. 2 added $43,959.04 (for a final contract total of $220,603.44) after the contractor identified failed plumbing (drain and waste lines) under the foundation and the incidental work necessary to access and restore the impacted areas. The minutes state the cumulative increase equals approximately 30.9% over the original award and that the design professional and the township engineering division supported the change.
The council authorized both change orders after the chief financial officer certified available funds from account no. 19-295-56-100-701. The minutes record the change orders were published and made available for inspection as required by law.
The contract increases were presented as responsive to material, unforeseen site conditions; the council approved the increases by motion and directed that the change order documents remain on file with the township clerk for public inspection.
