Polk County board audits claims, approves inventories and hears highway update

The Senior Citizen Service Center Fund shows a payment to Midwest Covenant Home for $14,141.07. Inheritance Tax Fund service payments recorded include MIPS for $2,354.07 and DAS State Accounting for $537.60.
The minutes also show County Treasurer receipts for August were credited to county funds (Debra S. Girard, County Clerk, reported fees earned of $2,621.72). The County Jail Report for August was not submitted for approval and the absence was recorded in the minutes.

County Attorney Chris Johnson reviewed a culture assessment report conducted by Woods Aitken with the board, Sheriff Ladwig and Highway Superintendent Theis. Superintendent Theis provided a roads update: a quoted cost to add hydraulics to operate a recently purchased pup trailer exceeded $10,000, and he said additional estimates will be sought. He also reported the D Road project near the county line is underway with work being done under traffic.
